QUESTION:  What does a Full Year Membership in the ABA cost?

ANSWER:   A Full Year ABA Membership cost $45.00 for the first family member; $40 for the second family member; and $35 for the third and each additional family member.  Any membership written through Steel Wheels receives a complimentary practice session and a free race!  Cash, checks or credit cards are accepted for membership.

QUESTION: I'm new to BMX, can I ride at your track?

ANSWER: Yes. There is a one-time offer in which you do not need to be an ABA member to ride a practice or even race.  Click here to download the application. After that you will need to become a member to pratice and/or race. You can sign-up at the track or get a copy of the membership form on the ABA website. One exception is at the outdoor track which is owned by the Parks Department - you can practice without being an ABA member (to race you still need to be a member).

Not exactly. There are two classes of bikes that can be riden as determined by wheel size. The two classes are CLASS and CRUISER. The maximum size for a CLASS bike is 20" and 24" (that's the diameter of the wheel) or greater for a CRUISER bike. The bike needs to have all reflectors, kickstand, pegs, brackets, etc. removed. Additionally, it is recommended that there be 3 pads on the bike - on the stem, crossbar, and top tube. Handlebar ends must also be covered and there must be a working brake.  If you want to race a number plate is required - anything from a paper plate to a plastic number plate.

You are required to wear a helmet full-face is  recommended), long pants, and a long sleeve shirt.  Shorts can be wornwith knee pads shin guard combinations and the shorts must  cover the top of the protective gear.  Short sleeves may be worn with adequate elbow pads as approved by the track operator. Gloves can be worn. Some riders wear other protective gear such as elbow and knee pads, chest protectors, etc. There are spare helmets at the track if needed and loaner bikes are available for a nominal fee.

ANSWER: Go to the ABA website to track current District, State, NAG, etc. points. Note they are a few weeks behind typically

ANSWER: For any service or goods we always recommend checking our sponsors first! If you can't find what you want there try asking around at the track or coming during a big race - there are always people and vendors selling bikes, parts, clothing, etc. And oh yeah - the Internet!

QUESTION: Do you race in the rain?

ANSWER: Kinda! We never cancel a race. If it's outdoor season and it's raining the race will be moved to the indoor track. Practices are cancelled during rain however.

QUESTION:  Do I get a prize for racing?

ANSWER:  Yes...if you make your main event.
